Iwate Regional University Unit (IRU)

Regional economic growth through enhanced cooperation between industry, university and government

Build a system for securing Iwate regional university cooperation and intensify support for such cooperation.

Specifically, IRU assists the members in the development of human resources, creation of organizations, making of rules, building up of personal networks and other relevant business in order for the national and private universities in the region to facilitate a system of cooperation with industry and government by making good use of know-how acquired from experience in setting up and operating an IP center. Especially, IRU assists members of humanities by jointly providing counseling on problem resolving and effective use of patents, copyrights, know-how, designs and other property in response to regional needs, and thereby supports its members who improves the system of cooperation between industry, university and government in their efforts to manage and utilize intellectual property.

North East Life Science Unit (NLU)

Promotion of transfer of life science technology

NUR members are commonly suffering from a lack of able people who can handle inventions and technology transfer in life sciences.
To solve the problem, NUR makes effective use of specialists in life sciences and the system of cooperation between industry, university and government promoted by this university, and thereby intensifies its efforts to assist NERUC members in transfer of technology.
In addition, NLU is organizing seminars on transfer of life science technology at three places in the Tohoku district and starts developing a system for transferring technology to solve problems peculiar to cold climate areas.

  • Train people to handle cooperation between industry, university and government (e.g. make a joint inspection of a factory by employees)
  • Provide counseling on inventions, evaluation of inventions, and render aid in reference search.
  • Host biotechnology seminars.
  • Discuss matchmaking between medical science and agriculture or medical science and engineering.
